Concussions (mTBI)
A concussion is a type of Traumatic Brain Injury. All concussions should be taken seriously. Symptoms of a concussion can appear right after the injury or may not appear until days or weeks afterwards.
Cognitive symptoms may be "invisible" to others but have a negative impact on self-confidence and self-esteem.
Symptoms may include difficulty with:
- Attention and concentration
- Retaining new information
- Multitasking
- Thinking clearly
- Slow processing speed
- Information processing
- Cognitive flexibility
Cognitive therapy addresses areas of weaknesses by focusing on brain exercises to improve cognitive processes and increase cognitive fluency/flexibility. Individualized strategies are developed and implemented to improve memory, attention, processing, and flexibility. In addition, digital cognitive exercises are available.
If you've recently had a concussion or are experiencing any of the above symptoms, make an appointment for a consultation and let us help you.
